Where were the specimens sampled?

Tap a station marker for coordinates and sampling depth. The map uses the recorded coordinates in the supplied dataset.

1 · Microplastic load across the three sites

Individual observations are shown with station-level distributions. Use the filters above to isolate a species or station.

2 · Does body size influence microplastic accumulation?

Each point represents one individual. The fitted line is calculated from the currently selected observations.

3 · Predator–prey transfer: biodilution or bioaccumulation?

BMF = median MP concentration in Rapana ÷ median MP concentration in Mytilus, calculated separately for each station.

BMF < 1 lower concentration in predator than prey · BMF > 1 higher concentration in predator than prey. A BMF > 1 is shown here as apparent trophic bioaccumulation, not proof of causal biomagnification.

4 · What size are the microplastics?

Particle-size composition is calculated from the MP-size columns supplied in the spreadsheet.

5 · What polymers were identified by FTIR?

Polymer composition from the dual Nile Red–micro-FTIR validation subset: 18 samples per species. The polymer data are independent of the 300-individual spreadsheet and are shown here as reported.

Mytilus n = 21 particles PS 47.62% · PA 23.81% · PP 14.29% · PET 9.52% · PE 4.76%
Rapana n = 31 particles PP 41.94% · PA 32.62% · PS 22.58% · PBT 3.23%. Reported percentages sum to 100.37%, reflecting rounding/reporting in the supplied values.

6 · Body size across stations

Explore the biometric measurements contained in the dataset. This section is descriptive; the statistical tests should be reported separately on the poster.

7 · Microplastic shape composition

Shapes were automatically categorised by the software based on a circularity index ranging from 0.0 to 1.0, sorting particles into fibres (0.0–0.3), fragments (0.3–0.6), or particles (0.6–1.0).
